I have not been performing since the pandemic, but rather delving Into the RCM piano repertoire, lots of reading and technique . Making these old hands go through some of these pieces is just tons of fun.
The photo to the left is the latest iteration of my gear, set up in the studio. It consists of a Kawai VPC 1 and 2 old Power Macs. My piano de jour is VI Labs Modern D, which to me is the closest I have heard to the real thing. I do, however continue to buy my lottery tickets! Lately, I only practice on the Kawai. One Mac contains 5 tb of hard drives, and all the virtual instruments, the other being a working spare. Most everything is backed up on 2 4tb G drives. I just hate huge downloads! I will list everything on a gear page at a later date.
The live rig I settled on, at this point, should I feel the lure of the limelight again, lol!, consists of a Yamaha YC 88, and an old Korg o1wfd. The organ patches in the YC are set to respond only to the Korg, thus eliminating the third organ keyboard. The signal is routed through the inputs on the YC, eliminating the need for a mixer. The one in the photo would be staying at home. Amplification is up in the air as I sold my EV ETX 10’s, a decision I don’t really regret, but they sounded great, and carried the digital piano extremely well. Oh well needs must. The gear just keeps getting heavier, I get older, poorer, and none the wiser!
Cheers Mike
